Sustainable Europe Strategy and Lisbon treaty implementation to dominate CoR plenary session
30.11.2009 - Debates on the future of the EU's Lisbon strategy and on the reinforced role of Europe's regions and cities under the new Lisbon Treaty rules are set to dominate the final plenary session of the Committee of the Regions' 2006-2010 mandate, which takes place on 3 and 4 December in the European Parliament's Paul-Henri Spaak building in Brussels.

The road to Copenhagen and beyond: CoR highlights climate change challenge with COP15 side event

Irish schools take part in CoR competition highlighting role of farmers markets
Farmers markets have played a central role in communities across Europe for centuries, and recent times have seen an upsurge in their numbers as more and more people opt to supplement their weekly shopping with a trip to the market. In the current economic climate, this upsurge in interest surrounding local and regional products is a welcome one.

Spanish EU presidency: "To achieve development for everyone, local and regional authorities must be properly involved in the process."
Spain will take the helm of the European Union for the first half of 2010. The environment, economic and social cohesion, implementation of the Lisbon treaty: faced with these short and long-term challenges, the Spanish Presidency of the European Union will be able to rely on the dynamism and commitment of its regional and local authorities.
