23rd COTER Commission meeting

The 23rd COTER commission meeting will take place on Monday 8 April 2024.

The COTER Commission has invited Themis CHRISTOPHIDOU, Director-General for Regional and Urban Policy (DG REGIO), for a debate with members on the European Commission's 9th Cohesion report.

COTER members will also exchange views on three opinions, starting with an exchange of views on the opinion on "The future of European Territorial Cooperation (ETC) post 2027" by rapporteur Karsten Uno PETERSEN (DK/PES). This opinion will look into the future of the Interreg programme, which has been developing cross-border, transnational and interregional cooperation over the past thirty years.

The following exchange of views will be on the opinion on "Creation of a common European mobility data space" by rapporteur Zdeněk HŘIB (CZ/GREENS), focusing on the challenges and opportunities for local and regional authorities that arise from the digitalisation of transport and “mobility as a service".

The final exchange of views will be on the opinion on "A Just Transition for all EU regions" by rapporteur Marco MARSILIO (IT/ECR). This opinion will focus on ensuring that no workers, communities and regions are left behind due to undergoing structural changes associated with the green and digital transition.

Finally, COTER members will have the opportunity to participate in a debate on 'The role of cities and their challenges in the environmental, economic, social and territorial transitions', a topic that the Belgian Presidency of the Council of the EU has asked the CoR to look into.

The agenda and the meeting documents are available on the CoR Members' Portal.

The meeting is public and will be streamed here.
