Europe@Home
Europe starts in our communities

The EPP/CoR photography competition Europe@Home is now closed.
Winners will be informed by the middle of May and the winning photographs will be displayed on the website.

Many thanks for your participation!

The European People's Party Group in the Committee of the Regions believes that the multitude of languages, cultures and religions in Europe means that is it is more than just a geographical place. What is more, Europe is not only alive in Brussels but can be experienced throughout its regions, communes and cities. In fact, we think that Europe starts in our communities!

The Competition

Two-way communication with Europe's citizens is essential for a healthy European democracy and citizens should be encouraged to share their opinions and expectations for Europe. In particular, the views of young people must be taken into account because they represent the future of Europe.

As we all know, every picture tells a story and a picture can tell more than a thousand words. The EPP Group in the CoR therefore invites you to send photographs showing how Europe can be seen where you live.

Your Photo

The EPP Group in the CoR wants to see your views on the impact of the European Union on your region and/or city. Carefully read the rules and conditions below to make sure that your photograph is in with a chance of winning. Don't forget, the competition ends on 30 April 2008 so get out there and start taking those shots!

Inspiration for your photograph could come from any of the linguistic, cultural, religious, social or economic expressions that are seen in your region or city as long as they represent Europe for you. The photograph can be in either black and white or colour and digital enhancement is also possible.

Selection Process

A jury, made up of representatives from EPP/CoR, CoR, European Parliament, European Commission, Youth of EPP and the media will review all of the photographs before selecting two winners in May 2008. These winners will then be invited to the EPP/CoR Summer University for local and regional media on 10-11 June 2008.

Prizes

1st Prize
€1500 + visit to EPP/CoR Summer University in Brussels on 10-11 June 2008

2nd Prize
€500 + visit to EPP/CoR Summer University in Brussels on 10-11 June 2008

In addition to the cash prizes mentioned above, the photographs will be used on the EPP Group in the CoR website as well as in the publications that it produces and for an exhibition at the EPP/CoR Summer University. It is therefore an excellent opportunity for you to communicate your idea of Europe and what it means in your city, region or commune.
