As bolstering sustainable economic development remains one of the three priorities of ARLEM, the Assembly continues to be invested in supporting young entrepreneurs. After what is now the third successful edition of the ARLEM Award – Young local entrepreneurship in the Mediterranean, the 2022 edition just opened for applications. Once more, we encourage young entrepreneurs (up to 35 years old) from the Mediterranean region to showcase their successful cooperation with their local and regional authorities. 

The Eurostat regional yearbook provides a statistical overview of the regions of the EU across a broad range of subjects. This year’s edition has been published on 9 September 2021. 

This event seeks to contribute to the reflections on European Democracy in the context of the Conference. It will enable an exchange among the members of the HLG on European Democracy and the participants of the YEP Programme. The focus will be on democracy and the future of Europe from the particular perspective of the younger generations of local and regional politicians.  

The event will consist of one High-Level Dialogue and four Thematic Sessions, aimed at discussing the role local authorities will play in the Renewed EU Partnership with the Southern Neighbourhood, the new Agenda for the Mediterranean and the New Pact on Migration and Asylum, and presenting critical contemporary areas of urban migration policy in the Euro-Mediterranean region. 

​In the margins of the external Bureau of the European Committee of the Regions (CoR) in Slovenia, the Young Elected Politicians (YEPs) Programme organises an outreach event on Cohesion Policy with the participants of the 2021 YEPs Programme and the YEPs Alumni. YEPs will engage in a debate with CoR Members, Slovenian politicians, representatives of the European Commission and Eurofund on the importance of "cohesion as a value" for Europe especially for the recovery phase from the pandemic crisis. 

On 24th September 2021 the European Committee of the Regions will partner with the City of Lodz in collaboration with the Union of Nordic Cities to organise the event 'Let’s talk about green transition – tips from Nordic cities on European Green Deal'. 

The 9th NAT commission meeting will take place on Monday 27 September 2021 from 11:00 to 13:00 and from 14:30 to 17:00 at the European Committee of the Regions, Rue Belliard 99-101, Brussels room JDE 52. 

The 9th CIVEX commission meeting will take place on Tuesday 28 September from 11:00 to 16:30. 

Supporting EU cities and regions by funding inclusive communities through the new MFF Hybrid event (online with limited on-site presence), organised as part of the CIVEX commission meeting on 28 September 2021 

​​​The 11th EGTC Platform meeting will take place in hybrid mode in Innsbruck, Austria on 30 September and 1 October in cooperation with the European Region Tyrol - South Tyrol – Trentino and the Land of Tyrol. This event will look at the current developments with the cross-border and transnational cooperation in the European Union following the devastating effects of the COVID-19 pandemic. 

The 9th SEDEC commission meeting (mandate VII) will take place on 1 October 2021 from 11:00 to 18:15 in hybrid mode, with the possibility to connect remotely via Interactio. 

Strong public investment plays a central role in the European Union's COVID-19 recovery plan. Looking to turn challenge into opportunity, the majority of this investment is being channelled towards the other big challenges we face: climate change and digitalisation. Local infrastructure investment is an important delivery point of EU policy implementation. The EIB 2020 municipality survey provides important insights into investment needs, priorities and barriers. The CoR is rolling out its RegHub survey in 2021, which zooms in on planning and permitting issues. Both surveys pay close attention to the challenges of the green and digital transformations. The workshop will provide an opportunity to learn about key findings to improve transition investment. 

​In the framework of the #EURegionsWeek 2021, the participants of the Young Elected Politicians (YEPs) Programme and the young Pro-European Members of the European Parliament (who are part of the EU40 network) will meet to debate, present their reflections and wishes for the future of Europe. Two YEPs and two MEPs will engage in dynamic discussion to reflect on the difficulties, improvements and possible measures that are linked to the most important issues of our European society.

The European Committee of the Regions and the European Commission are pleased to invite you to their joint Knowledge Exchange Platform event to take place in the framework of the European Week of Regions and Cities, on Wednesday 13 October 2021, from 11:30 to 13:00, online. 

Regions have become more prominent in EU policy assessment and evaluation. Their input into the "Fit for Future platform", inter alia, is an essential tool. The Regional Hub network (RegHub) is a recent approach to better integrating the expertise of regional administrations. But how to ensure that the particular expertise of border regions and cross-border entities is also used? What are the latest developments in cross-border evaluations? How could RegHub also include cross-border perspectives? These questions will be discussed during the info session. 

​​​​On 21st October 2021 the European Committee of the Regions in partnership with the Cluj-Napoca City Council and the European Commission, will hold an event focused on the urban-rural divide and how to address it, especially in the context of the Conference on the Future of Europe.  

The CoR is launching a call for expression of interest addressed to officials of local and regional authorities (LRAs) to participate in the European Migration Forum From pandemic to recovery: challenges and best practices in migration management . 

On 8th November 2021, the European Committee of the Regions will partner with the Regional Government of Castile-La Mancha to offer young citizens a local dialogue on the issues which matter to them in the context of the Conference on the Future of Europe.
