​​The Enlargement Day is the European Committee of the Regions' (CoR) annual flagship event on EU enlargement policy dialogue and experience sharing, first held in 2015.

With the recent momentum of enlargement policies, encompassing now 10 neighbouring countries, from the Western Balkans to Georgia, Europe is looking to the East and South-East, proposing a concrete plan and a substantial budget to help the candidate countries to rise to the challenge. There is work to be done on both sides, reforms and efforts, but trust is key, not only at the top level, but also on the ground. When a country joins the EU, local and regional authorities will have a key role in implementing EU legislation. The CoR – as the EU's expert body on multi-level governance and subsidiarity - helps local and regional authorities in enlargement countries to prepare for EU accession.
