One of the main features of the projects is its replicability, especially in public buildings that were built in the same period and within the same climate conditions. It can make a major impact on energy savings for public buildings and improving their working conditions.
In the last two years, the Regional Development Agency DUNEA submitted five projects on energy renovation in public buildings on an EU funded call “Energy renovation and use of renewable energy sources in public buildings”. Currently, renovation projects are in their last phase in the Metković high school, Fra Ante elementary school Gnječ-Staševica and a nursing home for elderly in Vela Luka while renovation works for Gruda elementary school and Crafts high school in Dubrovnik were finished in 2019.
For the most part, the same energy renovation and RES measures were applied for all of the five buildings, which were; heat insulation of walls and roofs, window replacement with energy efficient double glass windows, and installation of solar systems for hot water preparation.
Total cost of the investment for energy renovation of these five buildings was EUR 1763 790. Energy measures applied will contribute in energy savings for heating of approximately 602.424 kWh per year. In addition, CO2 emission reductions that these projects will gain is more than 400 tons per year. Taking into consideration the cost of the investment and its results, we can safely claim that the projects are successful and viable.
