Partners from six countries will come together in Salle de l’Etoile, Plœuc-L'Hermitage (France) to exchange on how culture and rural heritage can strengthen regional attractiveness and help address demographic challenges. The event will explore how cultural initiatives — rooted in built, intangible, and natural heritage — can foster social cohesion, identity, and a renewed sense of belonging in rural areas. By engaging younger generations and revitalising territories, culture becomes a key driver of sustainable rural development.

Discussions will focus on two themes: accessing European and national funding for cultural projects adapted to local realities, and tackling rural exodus by revaluing small-scale heritage in territorial strategies.

This EU Local Dialogue is organised by Thibaut Guignard (FR/EPP), Member of the European Committee of the Regions in partnership with ALDA – the European Association for Local Democracy, with the participation of Local Action Groups and rural networks from France, Poland, and Moldova, together with municipalities and cultural institutions from Spain, Croatia, Ukraine, and France’s overseas territories (Guadeloupe).

Speakers will include mayors, museum directors, and rural community leaders from Spain, Croatia, Ukraine, and Guadeloupe.
