The creation of the Corsica Grana ® brand contributes to the conservation of Corsica’s flora, its specific features, landscapes and island biodiversity. It also limits the importation of plant material, pathogens and pests onto the island.

Corsica Grana ® is a brand dedicated to the production and promotion of locally sourced plants.

The trademark is owned by the Office for the Environment of Corsica (OEC) and is managed by the Conservatoire Botanique National de Corse (CBNC - Corsican National Botanical Conservatory), which is a department of the OEC and has also been granted ministerial authorisation as part of the Conservatoire Botanique National (National Botanical Conservatory). The trademark relates exclusively to indigenous and wild species in Corsica, excluding horticultural, forage, fruit and varieties resulting from plant breeding. Plant material such as seeds and cuttings are collected directly from their natural environment, and the plants are produced locally, in short supply chains, in accordance with trademark-specific regulations governing their use and technical reference systems.

There are several aims underlying the trademark:

  • Boosting the prestige of Corsican flora
  • Guaranteeing the local origin of plant material
  • Proposing species adapted to local soil and climate conditions
  • Conserving the island’s genetic heritage
  • Promoting genetic diversity
  • Combating the introduction of species, particularly invasive alien species
  • Preserving ecological features Fostering the local economy.

Today, some dozen producers have the right to use the brand. Species produced under the Corsica Grana brand can be used, for example, in ecological restoration operations, landscaping and phyto-purification sites.
