Promoting cycling tourism through Interreg programmes in a context of sustainable mobility

The Regional Government of Andalusia, through various departments whose remit covers infrastructure, tourism and the environment, has taken the opportunity offered by the Interreg regional cooperation programmes to implement projects focusing on promoting cycling tourism as a way of boosting local development, especially in areas with low resources, and diversifying and making tourism less seasonal. It also contributes to climate change policies promoting sustainable mobility, which is compatible with the conservation of natural resources.

Thus, these bodies have been involved in Interreg EU, Interreg Atlantic and Interreg MED, working together, creating a cooperation network through a Protocol of Cooperation for carrying out joint measures to discharge responsibilities and effect planning and for developing common, coordinated cycling tourism strategies.
