Ahead of the European elections, in a complex historical moment, characterized by conflicts, continuous changes and new challenges, local governments take on an even more decisive role: proximity to the citizen and the ability to closely intercept the needs of a community and represent it, could be the keys to create a more aware and responsible government system.
Organised with the support of CoR member Matteo Bianchi (IT/ECR), this EU Local Dialogue addressed the major issues under discussion and the challenges of the future: citizen representation, green deals, security, global positioning of our continent and the future of the new generations, as well as the role and functioning of the European institutions.
The participants of the event underscored the importance of:
- involving young people better;
- applying the principle of subsidiarity;
- participating in the European elections;
- the value of environmental quality in the future of Europe;
- the role of the Committee of the Regions.
