The CoR has recently appointed Alberto Cirio (EPP/IT), President of the Piedmont region, as rapporteur for the opinion on the AI continent action plan. Ypu can check out the draft opinion online.
The rapporteur would like to gather your views and feedback on the questions below:
- Has your constituency/city/region adopted an AI solution and if so, how is it used?
- What should the priorities of the Commission be when it comes to the AI Continent Action Plan given that the scope of the plan is so broad? Are there any new actions that the Commission should consider implementing?
- What actions should be taken at EU level to increase the level of implementation by regional and local governments of AI and GenAI solutions?
- Have you already experienced an impact of the use of AI solutions as regards the environment, energy efficiency or increasing the resilience of your city/region?
- Do you believe that the AI Continent Action Plan includes the necessary initiatives to keep AI companies in Europe? Have AI companies in your constituency moved away, and what do you believe is required to keep them in Europe? What role can LRAs play?
- How are you sharing best practice with like-minded cities/regions and how do you involve the private sector and academia in bench-learning processes?
- The existing network of European Digital Innovation Hubs provides support to SMEs, mid-caps and public sector organisations on their path towards digital transformation. In view of the planned transition of EDIHs into Experience Centres for AI, what is the experience with the present network and what improvements could be proposed?
- Are the EU investment measures envisaged for the development and implementation of AI solutions sufficient to support regional growth and development?
- Should additional investment measures be taken?
- Considering that only 10% of the EUR 200 billion InvestAI initiative is new funds for AI gigafactories, how can existing digital funds be tapped and more public-private partnerships enabled?
- Considering the essential role of semiconductors in enabling AI technologies, how can the EU foster synergies between the EU Chips Act – including its upcoming 2.0 version – and the AI Continent Action Plan?
