This EU Local Dialogue, organised by Mieczysław Struk (PL/EPP), Marshal of the Pomorskie Voivodeship, will bring together young people aged 15 to 19, members of youth councils, student representatives and teachers to discuss how European, regional and local policies contribute to citizens' security.
Against the backdrop of ongoing geopolitical tensions, the war in Ukraine, climate-related risks and broader security challenges, the debate will explore the various dimensions of security and the role played by regional and local authorities. Participants will learn how the Pomorskie Regional Government and the Municipality of Słupsk contribute to security-related policies and projects, and how European Union funding supports these efforts. The event will feature contributions from Mieczysław Struk and Beata Chrzanowska, Deputy Mayor of Słupsk, followed by an interactive discussion with young participants, who will have the opportunity to ask questions and exchange views directly with policymakers.
The dialogue aims to increase young people's understanding of regional and local security challenges, raise awareness of EU initiatives supporting local authorities, and promote meaningful exchanges between decision-makers and the younger generation on the future of Europe's security.
