This is the latest edition of the Green Deal Funding Alert, a monthly newsletter that keeps you informed about funding opportunities and initiatives that support sustainable development and the transition to climate neutrality. This month’s edition highlights three key opportunities for local and regional sustainability: EUR 636.6 million in new Horizon Europe calls for climate, energy and mobility research; EUR 45 000 in lump sum grants for emerging energy communities under the LIFE European Energy Communities Facility; and the ‘EURegionsWeek close to you’ campaign, which is encouraging local events focused on the green transition and citizen engagement across Europe. 1. Horizon Europe: fund your new climate, energy and mobility research projects

The Horizon Europe 2025 Work Programme has launched new calls under Cluster 5 – Climate Action, Energy and Mobility, making over EUR 636.6 million available to support research and innovation in climate action, energy and mobility. These calls aim to accelerate the green and digital transitions, enhance energy resilience and help the EU meet its climate goals. Whether you're developing cross-sectoral climate solutions, advancing clean transport technologies or researching sustainable energy systems, there are funding opportunities tailored to your work!

2.Apply for a EUR 45 000 lump sum from the LIFE Programme European Energy Communities Facility

The European Energy Communities Facility is supporting energy communities across 29 European countries through two calls for proposals. Emerging energy communities can apply for a lump sum grant of EUR 45 000 to develop a business plan.

3. Apply to organise an 'EURegionsWeek close to you' event

The 'close to you' campaign, part of the 2025 European Week of Regions and Cities, is encouraging local events to be held across Europe from 13 October to 30 November 2025. With the motto 'Shaping tomorrow, together', this year's focus is on the green transition and community engagement. Whether you're a municipality or a local group, you can host on-site, hybrid or digital events to bring EU values closer to the public.
