The 2021-2030 PEIEC seeks to make Extremadura a leading region in the energy transition and the fight against climate change, achieving a sustainable economy that makes a significant contribution to regional progress.

The 2021-2030 Integrated Energy and Climate Plan for Extremadura (PEIEC) is the main tool of the Regional Government of Extremadura for promoting energy and climate transition in the region. It is the region's strategic instrument for driving transformation towards a climate-neutral economy, embracing the structural change this entails at all levels - in relation not only to energy and the environment, but also to the social dimension and the region's economic activities as a whole.

The PEIEC includes aspects such as renewable generation, integrated electricity storage and measures to optimise the use of energy resources and reduce greenhouse gases, and covers energy transition and the fight against climate change in all the region's economic sectors, such as housing, business, public bodies, transport, industry and the primary sector.

The PEIEC uses the specific features of each sector and of the region as a lever for change, turning the challenges of the entire energy transition process into opportunities for sustainable development in Extremadura.
