Easing traffic in the city centre by prioritising walking as the main form of mobility expanding pedestrian spaces, footpaths, squares and green spaces to encourage walking.

The garden terrace project aims to build walkways over railway tracks to generate new green spaces to enable pedestrians to walk across and to create easy connections between the city's north and south.

This initiative would help achieve the following objectives set out in the sustainable development goals of the Spanish urban agenda and in Agenda 2030:

  • Easing traffic in the city centre by prioritising walking as the main form of mobility, expanding pedestrian spaces, footpaths, squares and spaces to encourage walking;
  • Using town-planning instruments to strike a balance between urban spaces dedicated to motorised and non-motorised mobility, in line with cities' sustainable development policies.
