The Showroom is a fundamental pillar for the growth of the environmental awareness of new generations who will deal with climate change and achieve carbon neutrality; its action is linked to the SEAP – Sustainable Energy Action Plan – which originates from the Covenant of Mayors.

The Showroom for Energy and Environment is a municipal centre dedicated to education and information on sustainable energy and waste, working for schools, professionals and citizens with the objective to address the city towards energy efficiency, the use of renewable energy sources and the reduction and correct management of waste.

The Energy and Environment Showroom is an exhibition space of over 250m 2 on efficient energy technologies and a centre for information and dissemination aimed at schools, citizens and operators in the sector.

Opened in 2003 in the framework of the implementation of the "Urban CO 2 reduction" Municipal Energy Plan of 1999 and developed as part of the 2007 Municipal Energy Programme, with funding from the Ministry of the Environment and the contribution of the Emilia-Romagna Region, it has been visited by over 15 000 students and several hundred citizens.

The showroom works under the framework and in collaboration with the multi-centre for the education to sustainability of the Municipality of Bologna, which is part of the network of centres for sustainability of the Region Emilia-Romagna. The multi-centre focuses on various environmental issues, in particular on nature, quality of life in the cities and sustainable lifestyles; actions dealing with nature are implemented by the Foundation Villa Ghigi – that has a long tradition in developing actions for citizens and schools – while actions dealing with quality of life in the city and sustainable lifestyles are directly implemented by the Showroom.
