The LIFE IP Smart Waste project is crucial because it brings together many local stakeholders involved in waste management around a common project. The aim is to improve synergies between the different actions undertaken, thus enhancing the effectiveness of public policies.

Life IP Smart Waste is an integrated project, co-financed by the Life programme, which seeks to strengthen the effectiveness of waste management plans at departmental and regional level. It has five main objectives:

  • Encourage technical and social innovation to integrate all waste collection, treatment and recycling sectors into the circular economy;
  • Improve and adapt local equipment to increase the rate of waste recovery, particularly in terms of collection, sorting and treatment;
  • Strengthen the skills of those responsible for waste management in local authorities and businesses;
  • Promote the implementation of prevention, awareness-raising and information solutions on sound waste management at the appropriate level;
  • Encourage exchanges and sharing of good practices.

This project is in line with the adoption of the various departmental waste management plans, as well as the Regional Waste Prevention and Management Plan. Its implementation not only makes it possible to improve the implementation of these plans, but also to strengthen their synergy, thus contributing to the dynamics initiated by the Region in favour of the circular economy in the territory.
