The thermal upgrade of 50 public buildings in the City of Słupsk will reduce heat energy requirements by 57%.

The city of Słupsk has embarked on a major effort to improve the energy efficiency of 50 public buildings, ranging from schools and nurseries, community centres and sports halls to libraries, theatres, fire stations and office buildings. The plan is to improve insulation, cut emissions, switch to renewable energy (solar panels, solar collectors and heat pumps), and reduce heating and water costs. The total area covered – 81 000m2 – is large, and the predicted energy saving (57%) is substantial.

The insulation will be internal and external, and under-ground as well as above-ground. Window- and door-frames are being replaced, central heating and water heating installations upgraded, and mechanical ventilation with heat recovery is being installed. To complement the move to renewable energy, the existing lighting is being replaced with energy-saving LED technology systems.
