Location: Kungsbacka, Gothenburg, Sweden

The project aims to show young girls that they can participate in influencing urban planning, the project will also increase health and outdoor living among young people in a place where they can feel safe and involved.

The health of young people has long shown a negative trend. Young girls are an extra vulnerable group, they both feel worse and feel more insecure in the public space. In Kungsbacka's survey Local follow-up of youth policy from 2017, a large gender difference was presented in Kungsbacka with significantly poorer self-rated health in girls compared to boys. The survey also found that 1 in 3 girls find there is too little to do in their spare time.

A group of young girls together with a landscape architect got the opportunity to participate in the urban development process and influence Kungsbacka's outdoor environment. The result of their work will be a permanent meeting place along kungsbackaån at the height of Aranäsgymnasiet.
