Local and regional governments play an important role in preparing countries for EU accession. They deliver key public services and help implement EU rules, but they are not always fully involved in shaping reforms.

This seminar will highlight how local governments contribute to areas such as planning, the environment, social cohesion and recovery efforts. It will present findings from recent studies and look at how EU funding can better support local involvement in reforms, both now and after 2027.

The event aims to encourage open discussion between local, regional and national representatives and promote stronger cooperation in the EU accession process. It will also provide a platform for participating countries to exchange experiences, build networks, and share lessons learned, including by communicating their perspectives and practical insights to relevant EU institutions.
