The partners of the Cities and Regions for Integration of Migrants network of the European Committee of the Regions - Eurocities and UNICEF, are organising an online meeting focusing on the EU Child Guarantee and the crucial role of local authorities in delivering support to vulnerable children.

The EU Child Guarantee provides a framework for fighting child poverty by guaranteeing children's access to key services, such as early childhood care, education and healthcare. Cities are instrumental in making the Child Guarantee a reality and in achieving the target set out in the European Pillar of Social Rights Action Plan, to lift at least five million children out of poverty by 2030.

Together, cities and UNICEF are calling on all levels of government, as well as international organisations and NGOs, to come together to achieve the goals of the Child Guarantee.

Speakers at the meeting will include Danijela Dolenec, Deputy Mayor of Zagreb, Flavia Boghiu, Deputy Mayor of Brasov and Lieve de Bosscher, Director of Childcare services in Ghent. MEP Dragoș Pîslaru and Katarina Ivanković Knežević, Director for Social Rights and Inclusion in the European Commission also will be speaking.

The online meeting takes place this Friday, 26 January from 10:00 – 11:15 CET.
