The event, organised as part of the European Committee of the Regions’ EU Local Dialogues initiative, aims to create a space for direct dialogue between representatives of the business sector, local and regional authorities, and European institutions.
EU Local Dialogues serve to “bring the European Union closer to its citizens by addressing issues relevant to local communities, whilst also referring to broader EU policies”.
The discussion will focus on the role of businesses – particularly SMEs – in the defence sector’s transformation, innovation, supply chains and regulatory challenges.
The aim of the event is:
- to gather the views and experiences of local businesses;
- to identify opportunities and barriers to the sector’s development;
- to ensure the voice of the Podlasie region is heard in the EU policy-making process.
The dialogue will be interactive and multi-level – in line with the Committee of the Regions’ approach, which enables regions and cities to influence EU legislation.
Expected outcomes:
- substantive input into the Committee of the Regions’ opinion,
- raising entrepreneurs’ awareness of EU policies,
- strengthening cooperation between the local and European levels.
