The European Committee of the Regions (CoR) is currently preparing its opinion on the European Commission Communication on the New European Bauhaus (NEB), focusing on the role of local and regional authorities in advancing sustainable, inclusive and beautiful living environments across Europe.
The rapporteur for this opinion, Ms Tsvetelina Simeonova-Zarkin (BG/Renew Europe), warmly invites representatives of local and regional authorities, EU institutions, practitioners, civil society organisations, cultural and creative sectors, academia and other relevant stakeholders to participate in a stakeholder consultation workshop on the key issues addressed in the Communication and the CoR opinion under preparation.
The workshop will take place in person at the CoR premises on Wednesday, 3 June 2026, from 15:00 to 16:30 CET, in Jacques Delors Building (JDE) Atrium 5. The exchange will be organised in an interactive workshop format, encouraging participants to share experiences, good practices and concrete recommendations to contribute to the preparation of the opinion.
The draft opinion is scheduled for discussion and adoption at the meeting of the SEDEC commission on 22 June 2026, with final adoption expected at the CoR plenary session in October 2026.
The workshop discussion will focus in particular on:
- the territorial dimension of the New European Bauhaus Communication;
- the involvement of cities and regions in the implementation of the NEB initiative;
- financing and investment challenges for local NEB-related projects;
- citizen participation and community engagement;
- skills, innovation and interdisciplinary cooperation;
- the contribution of the NEB to cohesion, sustainability, culture and social inclusion.
Participants will also be invited to share concrete examples and experiences from their territories that could help enrich the CoR opinion.
The meeting will be held in English.
