This project aims at significantly reducing our organisation's annual CO2 emissions from mobility and therefore contributing to a cleaner and safer city environment. Moreover, it teaches employees about the benefits of sustainable mobility behaviour and motivates them to adopt change.
This project tackles the issue of redefining the mobility of North-East RDA's 200 employees, in order to contribute to the improvement of air quality, health protection and guarantee a cleaner and healthier environment for all the inhabitants of the city of Piatra Neamt.
Currently 68% of our employees are travelling by car, 26% walk, 5% use public transportation and 1% use the bicycle. The main motives for car use are speed, convenience and compromise, however the 95 employees who use cars are generating 227.6 kg of CO 2 /day or 52.35 tons of CO 2 /year.
During the first two years of implementation, we aim to reduce the North-East RDA's annual CO 2 emissions on mobility (-14 tons of CO 2 vs. actual) by 20% and become a model in the region by scaling the project to a regional level, in the 3rd and 4th year. Our specific objectives are to promote walking for Home-Work-Home routes for under 1 km; cycling for under 5 km; and a rationalisation of personal vehicle use for under 7 km. Urban mobility culture and efficient management of the North-East ADR car fleet will also be promoted.
We plan to reach our objectives, first of all by corroborating the individual effort with the organisation's effort. Secondly, by implementing relevant measures for the employees and making it easy for most of them to migrate to more sustainable means of mobility: incentives to determine change of behaviour, motivation/fidelity system implementation, etc.
