Our modern society is increasingly focused on healthy lifestyle to achieve greater well-being. Municipalities should also look into the possibility to "detox", seeing investment in green heating and sustainable renovation as opportunities rather than difficulties. After all, in the EU, 70% of legislation on climate change mitigation and 90% of adaptation initiatives are implemented at municipal level.
These topics will be discussed at the EU Local Dialogue "Green and innovative municipalities for healthy well-being" co-organised by the Latvian Association of Local and Regional Governments, the Covenant of Mayor’s Europe, Liepāja city municipality and CoR member Gunars Ansins (LV/Renew). The participants will discuss the different funding possibilities for cities and municipalities to invest in green and sustainable future, while the invited speakers will give examples of their municipalities' experience in using various specific programmes for this purpose.
This EU Local Dialogue offers both theoretical knowledge and hands-on suggestions based on best practices shared among citizens, local administrations and policy makers.
