Fully funded by the European Union, this initiative enhances preparedness and rapid response across Member States. The new operational capacity is characterized by a fleet of vehicles and laboratories, as well as highly qualified rescue personnel and professionals from the most experienced CBRN organizations in Italy. As part of the rescEU project, these personnel will be trained through a specific training programme, both classroom-based and operational, and supported by augmented reality.

The novel capacity will play a key role in ensuring safety during major events, including the Milano Cortina 2026 Winter Olympic and Paralympic Games.

This event, held in Brussels and hosted by the European Committee of the Regions, will highlight innovation, cross-border cooperation, and the strategic importance of these initiatives for a more resilient and secure Europe.
