On 2 November 2026, the city of Miercurea Ciuc will host an EU Local Dialogue entitled “Women Shaping Rural Communities: Leadership, Participation and Public Services”. Organised by CoR member Csaba Borboly (RO/EPP), the event will take place in the framework of the European Gender Equality Week and will bring together local and regional elected representatives, community leaders, young people, civil society organisations and public service professionals.
The dialogue will explore how women contribute to leadership, public services and decision-making in rural and mountain communities, while addressing the barriers that continue to limit equal participation. Through discussions and exchanges of experiences, participants will identify practical ways to promote gender equality, inclusive leadership and equal opportunities, helping to ensure that local perspectives are reflected in European policymaking.
