The Recyclerie des Moulins is a sustainable flagship project to promote the re-use and recycling of waste for the local Green Deal: when circular economy becomes a driver for employment, social integration, environmental education and urban regeneration.

Opened in May 2018, the Recyclerie des Moulins is an innovative recycling unit located in an urban priority neighbourhood of Nice which includes:- A 194 m2 building allowing reception of recyclable and reusable bulky items collected in the Moulins district (in streets or at home),- A public space for the voluntary collection of objects from the district delivered by citizens comprising an inner sorting zone,- A recycling space with an interior area for repairing small objects (such as small appliances, furniture, etc.), for exhibitions, sales and reception of the public,- An external and internal pedagogical space based around collective composting, a shared garden, waste sorting and recycling.
Built by the Metropole Nice Côte d'Azur, the management of the Recyclerie is entrusted, by way of public procurement, to a local NGO (GALICE) with the aim of promoting the social and solidarity economy as well as social inclusion through circular economy.
Indeed, the Recyclerie des Moulins is a living and evolving space that combines the three pillars of sustainable development:- Environmental: waste reduction and awareness raising for the eco-citizens of tomorrow,- Social: improvement of the living environment by collecting and recycling bulky waste,- Economic: consumption at an affordable price and professional reintegration activity.
This project contributes fully to the objectives of the sustainable urban development strategy defined by the Métropole.
