The ENoLL Policy Event will explore the impact and future role of Living Labs in European policies and innovation ecosystems, particularly in the context of Europe’s competitiveness agenda and the upcoming Multiannual Financial Framework. Bringing together policymakers, Living Lab practitioners, researchers and industry representatives, the event will highlight how collaborative, place-based experimentation can connect research, innovation, policy and society.
The programme will take participants on a journey through the European innovation landscape, opening with a keynote by Jean-David Malo on Europe’s research and innovation priorities and the role of the European Research Area in responding to today’s global challenges. A policy dialogue will then explore how Living Labs contribute to Missions and Clusters and support innovation in areas including climate adaptation with four Head of Units from different thematics, health, agriculture, urban transitions, and oceans and waters.
The discussion will move to the regulatory dimension, with the Joint Research Centre of the European Commission reflecting on regulatory learning and the role of real-life experimentation in evidence-informed policymaking. The event will conclude with a keynote from a Member of the Board of the European Innovation Council, looking at how European innovation instruments can support startups and scaleups, strengthen competitiveness and foster breakthrough innovation, while reflecting on the future positioning of Living Labs within European research and innovation frameworks.
