EU Local Dialogue organised by Friso Douwstra (NL/EPP) in Leeuwarden will focus on the role of regions in accelerating the transition towards a circular economy. As a recognised frontrunner in this field, Fryslân has developed a strong regional ecosystem bringing together public authorities, businesses, knowledge institutions and civil society to turn circular ambitions into concrete action.
The dialogue will provide an opportunity to share the Frisian experience, exchange lessons with members of the European Committee of the Regions, and connect regional practice with the European policy agenda. Through presentations, discussions with CoR members and local stakeholders, and a working visit to circular initiatives in practice, participants will explore how EU policies can better support implementation at local and regional level.
The event aims to strengthen exchanges between European regions, generate new insights into effective regional approaches, foster closer links between the CoR and Frisian stakeholders, and identify ways in which frontrunner regions such as Fryslân can contribute to the further development of European circular economy policy. Practical, interactive and forward-looking, the dialogue will offer ample opportunities for discussion and peer learning.
