HYBRID Stakeholder Consultation on Autonomous driving

The European Committee of the Regions (CoR) is currently preparing an own initiative opinion on Autonomous driving. The rapporteur for this opinion, Ms Arianna Censi (IT/PES), Member of the Local Executive of Milan, would be pleased to meet representatives of local and regional authorities and other relevant stakeholders to discuss the opportunities, challenges and territorial implications of the deployment of connected and automated mobility across the European Union. The hybrid meeting will take place in room JDE 62 at the European Committee of the Regions and online. It will be held in English and Italian. 

The preparation of the CoR Opinion should be based on broad participation. The Rapporteur has therefore initiated a listening and consultation process with local and regional authorities, European institutions, transport and mobility stakeholders, industry representatives, digital and telecommunications actors, researchers, academia, civil society organisations and citizens. The objective is to develop a forward-looking opinion that reflects territorial realities across Europe's regions and cities while contributing to a safe, inclusive and sustainable deployment of connected and automated mobility.

The draft opinion will be adopted at the meeting of the COTER commission on 21 January 2027 and at the CoR plenary on 21 – 22 April 2027.

You can already access the working document prepared by the rapporteur, which will be the basis for the preparation of the opinion and the discussion. The exchange will be interactive and primarily focused on stakeholders' input and presentation of their views on the subject.

Deadline for registration is Monday, 16 November at 5 pm. 

Please note that the CoR does not cover expenses and does not provide any reimbursement for attending this meeting.
