The Regional Government of Extremadura has drawn up a Regional Framework for the Green Economy and Circular Economy in Extremadura, providing a roadmap towards a green and circular economic model for the region. The aim is "a development model based on a green, circular economy that tackles climate change while generating new opportunities for employment, quality of life and well-being".
Calls for applications for aid were made under the 2014-2020 Rural Development Programme for Extremadura to foster a green, circular farm economy. The purpose of the aid is to encourage a new, green agriculture and to develop a primary sector that can make real progress in harnessing ecological potential and serve as a foundation for healthy food supply, and that is capable of applying cutting-edge technology with the very latest know-how.
Calls for applications for this aid were made in 2019. Of the applications made, 79 were accepted once their compliance with all the requirements had been checked. The relevant investments are currently being made.
The main investments requested and granted concern:
• pruning waste shredders
• liquid slurry spreaders with localisation devices
• liquid manure spreaders with localisation devices
• ecological production machinery
• on-farm composting equipment.
