Almost three tonnes – that's how much plastic we have saved in a year, by removing the plastic bags in most of the municipality's trash cans.
In 2018, Lokalvården has tried to remove the plastic bags in many of the bins in the municipality's premises. Now the result is here. Compared to 2017, we used half a million fewer plastic bags (519,900) in 2018. Thus, we have saved almost three tons of plastic!
"This has been made possible by the fact that we have all implemented the change together. Our cleaners have been determined to implement the initiative in our premises. Similarly, Lokalvård's customers as well as the municipality's employees and local residents have all helped. Both by believing in the initiative and by listening to the call not to throw other than combustible waste into the bins that do not have a plastic bag, says Sandra Einhaus, developer at Lokalvård.
Since the result has been so well paid out, the municipality's cleaning will continue to choose not to put plastic bags in the trash cans.
"This shows that through cooperation and determination we can make a difference for the environment," says Ann Cathrine Roxhage, Operations Manager.
