Creating a network of urban routes for history, culture and the environment in terms of sustainable mobility

​​The project was an initiative of the Municipality of Kallithea, in order to highlight the historical and cultural depth of the city and at the same time to motivate the residents and visitors to the city to move in a sustainable manner, such as walking, cycling, etc., reducing carbon emissions and improving air quality. For the project, an application was developed, iBeacons technology and Augmented Reality, which enable a tour of the city using smart devices.

The application presents all the historical, cultural and environmental elements (green spaces, urban parks) of the city, the routes that can be chosen, the distances between the points of interest and the information required and of interest to the public and the visitors.

A total of 15 interesting points about the history, culture and environment of the Municipality of Kallithea is highlighted including buildings that hosted the shooting sport event at the 1986 Olympic Games, refugee buildings that hosted the refugees of the Asia Minor catastrophe, large green spaces of the city, etc. The electronic application is already available to a very large number of residents and visitors to the city.
