The Interregional group WINE (Wine Interregional group for Nature and Economy) was created in 2025, and it focuses on promoting the interests of the European wine sector.
Mission
This interregional group has the mission to:
- advocate for rural development;
- represent the interests of wine-producing regions in European policy-making processes. This involves promoting policies that support the growth of the wine industry, ensuring that regional wine producers have a voice in decisions that affect them;
- promote sustainability and environmental protection: Promote sustainable viticulture practices, addressing challenges related to climate change, soil health, and water usage;
- preserve cultural heritage and tourism: Highlight the role of wine as an integral part of Europe’s cultural heritage and its contribution to tourism. The interregional group advocates for initiatives that boost wine-related tourism, protect traditional wine-growing regions, and promote the cultural value of wine;
- support economic growth and jobs: support policies that drive economic development in wine-producing regions, emphasizing the creation of jobs within the wine industry and its supply chain;
- strengthen trade and international relations: Foster peer-learning and an open dialogue within the regions to promote fair and open trade policies for European wines. This includes advocating for the protection of European wine exports in global markets and addressing international trade barriers.
