Within the framework of the Toscana Carbon Neutral regional strategy, in line with the objective of the 2016-2020 Regional Development Programme on Combating climate change , Tuscany has identified measures for achieving the objective of climate neutrality by 2050, including, in particular, Promoting planting of trees and green areas .

In line with the priority measures identified by the European Union itself, Tuscany's strategy also draws particular attention, in terms of the GHG emissions budget, to the possibility of increasing the absorption of CO 2 already present in the air through forests and urban greenery, which are an efficient “technology” for achieving these objectives that is free of the adverse environmental effects related, for example, to the energy and material costs of production and disposal.

By means of the call for tenders adopted with Departmental Decree No 11924 of 30/7/2020 (published in edition No 33 of the Tuscan official gazette (BURT) of 12/8/2020, PART III), the region of Tuscany intends to facilitate the implementation of integrated projects to reduce greenhouse gas emissions in urban areas.
