This interactive policy workshop will foster dialogue between EU-level policymakers, national administrations, farmers, researchers, value-chain actors and civil society to explore how emerging EU soil legislation can be meaningfully implemented at national level. With soil health as a cross-cutting priority, the event will connect the dots between the Soil Monitoring Law, Common Agricultural Policy (CAP), Carbon Removal Certification Framework (CRCF), and Nature Restoration Law — and examine how they relate to realities on the ground. Through a mix of high-level updates, panel exchanges, and participatory sessions, the dialogue will surface practical pathways for improved coordination across governance levels and more inclusive, farmer-informed approaches to soil monitoring.
The workshop is organised under the Horizon Europe project BENCHMARKS, which develops science-based soil health indicators and tools to support soil restoration across the EU. Outcomes will feed into EU research projects and be shared with the EU Mission Soil Secretariat.
