Because it can inspire other villages to build new Energy Communities
The Government of Navarra is firmly committed to boost energy self-consumption, favoring the implementation of renewable installations with tax deduction measures and adopting the specific aid package launched by the national government.
Within the LIFE-NADAPTA project, GN carries out a benchmarking study of energy communities at a regional, national and European level from which conclusions are drawn so that the administration itself can address the difficulties encountered at the time of its constitution.
Through this same project, a feasibility study is carried out on public-private investment management models and the start-up of an Energy Community pilot project in a small Navarrese municipality called Garralda.
The constitution of the CE of Garralda is based on a social innovation, consisting of a participatory social process of great intensity , with the support of technical assistance in charge of coordinating social, legal, and technical aspects of participation. All natural or legal persons and public bodies are invited to participate through communicative actions aimed at the entire population. The project is supported by the construction of a solar farm in an energy storage plant and an internal network to bring electricity to homes and electric vehicle recharging points. In the future, the activities of the CE can be expanded with more facilities, awareness processes and energy saving, use of biomass, water resources, etc.
