Ezen az oldalon:

The objective of this EU Local Dialogue is to assess to what extent citizens are aware of available tools for their active involvement in decision-making and policy development at European level, as well as to explore to what extent citizens are prepared, ready and motivated to use them in practice.

The discussion will explore ways in which the public debate should be shaped to prevent negative voices to be the loudest and vested interests to occupy and decisively influence the debate and decision taking.

Given the current widespread disappointment with politicians and the rise of populism, the event will try to identify new, innovative forms of citizens participation which can build trust and strengthen democracy. The objective is also to raise awareness among citizens that they are indispensable partners in shaping and managing effective European policies with the role beyond elections and representative democracy.

Citizens participating in this even will give their feedback on the main obstacles for their meaningful participation in decision making and policy development, as well as on how their interest in active engagement can be boosted, trust in European institutions and policy making process strengthened, feelings of apathy and powerlessness decreased and eventually eliminated.

Format will be direct interaction between the citizens and elected politicians at European, national and local level through 2 panels.
