The Strategic Foresight Partnership (SFP) Interregional Exchange Meeting in Helsinki on 4–5 March 2026 brings together regional and city foresight practitioners to explore how anticipatory approaches can be embedded into policymaking and territorial development.
Hosted by the Helsinki‑Uusimaa Regional Council, the two‑day programme offers a rich mix of policy insights, practical experience and peer exchange. Participants will hear from leading experts from Finnish cities, ministries, research institutes and innovation organisations, showcasing how foresight is applied in areas such as regional planning, green transition, wellbeing services, labour markets, urban development and emerging technologies.
Through keynote presentations, moderated discussions and a site visit to the Helsinki XR Center, the meeting highlights concrete tools and methodologies that help public authorities navigate uncertainty, connect long‑term thinking with day‑to‑day decision‑making, and strengthen future‑readiness at different governance levels. The programme also provides space for informal exchange and reflection, supporting mutual learning among SFP partner regions.
The Strategic Foresight Partnership (SFP) is an Interreg Europe project that supports regions in exchanging foresight knowledge and applying it to improve the effectiveness of cohesion and development policies. The project is guided by an Advisory Board including the European Committee of the Regions, the Joint Research Centre and the OECD, ensuring strong links between regional practice and international‑level foresight and policymaking.
