The European Committee of the Regions (CoR) is preparing the opinion Simplification of administrative burdens in environmental legislation, led by rapporteur Nadia PELLEFIGUE (FR/PES), Vice-President of the Region of Occitanie.
This opinion covers the whole environmental simplification package (6 legislative files and the communication). Please check out the press release of the European Commission (with links to legislative proposals).
The opinion follows an accelerate procedure, please find below the timeline of the opinion:
- 11 March 2026: Stakeholder consultation
- 22 April 2026: General Exploratory debate at the ENVE commission of the CoR
- 6-7 May 2026: Approval in CoR Plenary
The consultation will help ensure that the Committee of the Regions’ recommendations reflect the practical needs of territories and support more effective, fair and workable environmental policies across the Union.
