The Commission for Economic Policy (ECON) will hold its 23rd meeting on 4 July in Brussels. Members of the ECON commission will hold discussions and adopt opinions on Mid-term review of the post-COVID European recovery plan (Recovery and Resilience Facility) drawn up by rapporteur Christophe ROUILLON (FR/PES) and on Shock-proofing European regions: Strengthening local and regional economic resilience in the strategic evolution of the Single Market drawn up by rapporteur Ilpo HELTIMOINEN (FI/ECR). 

ECON members will also have exchanges of views on four opinions: 

  1. Proposal for a regulation on the screening of foreign investments in the Union with rapporteur Michael MURPHY (IE/EPP), 
  2. A strong European defence industry with rapporteur Fernando LOPEZ MIRAS (ES/EPP), 
  3. The future of the single market and the EU's competitiveness with rapporteur Martijn VAN GRUIJTHUIJSEN (RENEW/ECR)
  4. Supporting SMEs in regional value chains – fostering the proximity economy with rapporteur Barbara HEGEDUS (HU/ECR).
