On 25 May 2023, the European Committee of Regions, the European Alliance of Cities and Regions for the Reconstruction of Ukraine will hold a Joint Workshop "Putting the Lugano Principles into Action: Strengthening the Role of Local and Regional Governments in Ukraine's Recovery and Reconstruction Process, and on the road to EU Membership".
The conference is organized in cooperation with the European Commission, the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development as well as with the Government of Ukraine, the Government of the United Kingdom and the Swiss Federal Department of Foreign Affairs.
The event with parallel break-up sessions will focus on linking recovery and reconstruction of Ukraine with decentralisation reform and strong involvement of local and regional levels in Ukraine in this process. Some of the sessions will also focus on the topic of reconstruction and infrastructure investments across all levels of government, guiding principles, coordination and institutional capacity and trust-building. Finally, the forum will also explore public private partnerships and financing of investments at local and regional level in Ukraine.
The workshop will take place on Thursday, 25 May 2023, from 14.30 to 18.30 at the European Committee of the Regions, Rue Belliard 101, Brussels, rooms JDE 51, JDE 52 and JDE 53.
It will be followed by the reception hosted by Switzerland at the premises of the Mission of Switzerland to the European Union at Place du Luxembourg 1, 1050 Brussels.
