The European Committee of the Regions (CoR) is preparing an opinion on "Biodiversity protection and coexistence with large carnivores in Europe – challenges and opportunities for local and regional authorities", led by rapporteur Csaba Borboly (RO/EPP), President of Harghita County Council, Romania, and member of the Commission for the Environment, Climate change and Energy (ENVE) of the CoR.
This stakeholder consultation will provide the rapporteur with useful information to support the preparation of the draft opinion. The rapporteur invites different actors to reflect on the proposed Directive, its possible challenges, consequences, and to explore ways to enhance it.
The draft opinion is scheduled for discussion at the ENVE commission meeting on 8 February 2024. The opinion is expected to be approved at the CoR plenary session of 17-18 April 2024.
