On 26 October 2026, CoR member Alberto Cirio (IT/EPP), President of the Piemonte Region and Head of the Italian Delegation to the European Committee of the Regions, will organise an EU Local Dialogue in Florence, as part of the 5th edition of the Festival “L'Italia delle Regioni”. The event will take place at Palazzo Buontalenti (Via Camillo Cavour 63-65, Florence) and will bring together European, national, regional and local leaders to discuss how regions can create the conditions for people to stay, thrive and build their future where they live.

Building on the Mullingar Declaration on A Future Worth Staying For, participants will explore challenges such as demographic decline, territorial disparities, brain drain, affordable housing, access to services, quality jobs, opportunities for young people and climate resilience. The debate will focus on how the EU's emerging Right to Stay initiative can be translated into concrete policies that strengthen territorial cohesion, resilience and competitiveness across Europe.

Confirmed speakers include Kata Tüttő, President of the European Committee of the Regions, Massimiliano Fedriga (IT/ECR), President of the Conference of Regions and Autonomous Provinces, and Eugenio Giani (IT/PES), President of the Tuscany Region. Raffaele Fitto, Executive Vice-President of the European Commission for Cohesion and Reforms, has been invited to participate. The event is organised in cooperation with the Conference of Regions and Autonomous Provinces.
