This event will bring together policymakers, researchers and tourism stakeholders to discuss how coastal destinations can balance economic development, environmental sustainability and residents’ quality of life.

The workshop is organised in the framework of the SMART COAST project, supported by the Interreg Atlantic Area Programme.

The programme will feature expert presentations and a political roundtable focused on tourism flow management, citizen participation in destination governance and the future of sustainable tourism policies in Atlantic regions. Participants will exchange experiences and explore collaborative solutions to shared challenges affecting coastal territories across Europe.

The event will also highlight the added value of territorial cooperation in supporting resilient, attractive and sustainable coastal communities, while strengthening dialogue between European institutions, regional authorities and local stakeholders.

The European Committee of the Regions is hosting the event but is not responsible for its content.
