Delivering well-being is a priority municipality-wide effort to help all children and young people leave school with good skills, good self-esteem and strong confidence in the future. We will promote well-being among children and young people with school as an arena, with a common starting point and approach from a promotion health perspective. The goal is a common thread in the view and work to increase well-being throughout schooling, from preschool to upper secondary school.
Mental illness is a challenge across the country and has increased among children and young people in recent decades. Mental illness prevents children and young people from functioning and develops optimally. Impaired mental well-being and disorders such as stress, difficulty sleeping, fatigue, stomach pain and headaches affect the quality of life of children and young people and impair their ability to perform and reach their full potential at school. In Kungsbacka municipality, physical and mental illness are major common challenges. When it comes to mental well-being, the young people in Kungsbacka feel negatively distinguished, both regionally and nationally.
Especially in the field of physical activity, many of our schools have come a long way in the work. Physical activity has a number of health benefits and promotes both physical and mental health. The link between physical activity and better mental health is clear and children who are physically active rate their health to a greater extent as good.
The work represents a change of focus for our entire school organization - from results first to first.
