On the occasion of the European Climate Pact annual event on 19 March, the President of the European Committee of the Regions Kata Tüttő met with Wopke Hoekstra, European Commissioner for Climate, Net-Zero and Clean Growth. Joined by a group of the CoR's Climate Pact Ambassadors, President Tüttő urged to strengthen the dialogue with cities and regions both at EU and global level to reach the target of climate neutrality leaving  no one and no place behind.

President Tüttő said: "The Climate Pact is a perfect model for bottom-up action which brings together individuals, communities and organisations to fight climate change and adapt to its consequences. Everyone must play their part, and EU cities and regions remain committed to reaching the objectives of climate neutrality and the European Green Deal as we are the first to feel the direct impact of climate change. Our crucial task is to implement the green policies on the ground in a way that benefits the citizens and local communities in all corners of Europe. However, we can’t do this without adequate support from the EU and the national level. The voice of local and regional governments must be heard both at European level and at global climate negotiation tables."

The European Committee of the Regions is engaged in the European Climate Pact, which aims to empower citizens to shape a greener Europe. CoR members are invited to join this initiative as the CoR's Climate Pact Ambassadors, 8 of whom took part in this year's flagship event organised by the European Commission.
