Green Deal Funding Alert - May 2024

This is the latest edition of the Green Deal Funding Alert, a monthly newsletter that keeps you informed about funding opportunities and initiatives that support sustainable development and the transition to climate neutrality. This edition offers the chance to contribute to a survey on the circular economy in EU cities and regions, as well as the opportunity to receive funding for local and regional projects on climate adaptation, resilient transport and smart mobility. Read on to find out how to benefit from these initiatives!

1. OECD Survey on Circular Economy in Cities and Regions in the EU – Complete the survey

Is your city or region enthusiastic about supporting the transition to a circular economy in the EU? 

The OECD and the Circular Cities and Regions Initiative (CCRI) of the European Commission are investigating the state of the art of the circular economy in cities and regions in the EU, the territorial deployment of EU circular economy policies and plans, and the challenges and opportunities involved in accelerating the transition to a circular economy.

 Share your experience by responding to the OECD survey by 21 June 2024.

 Results of the survey will be fed into the flagship OECD report on 'The Circular Economy in EU cities and regions', and your contributions will help identify ways to accelerate the circular economy transition in the context of the European Green Deal and the Circular Economy Action Plan.

2. Horizon Europe – New call for proposals on climate adaptation

Under the Adaptation to Climate Change Mission, the European Commission has published new calls on the EU Funding and Tenders Portal aimed at supporting your ideas on adaptation to climate change. The projects aim to support the Mission in accelerating the transformation to a climate-resilient Europe by fostering the resilience of cities, regions and local communities to climate change. Each project will receive a grant of between EUR 2 and 27 million.

 Applications are open until 18 September 2024.

3. Horizon Europe – New call for proposals on climate action, energy and mobility

The European Commission has launched two new calls for projects under the Horizon Europe's Work Programme for 2023-2024 on the topics of climate action, energy and mobility. A total of EUR 163.5 million is available to fund green, smart and resilient transport and mobility research projects.

 Apply now for calls covering Cross-sectoral solutions for the climate transition and Safe, resilient transport and smart mobility services for passengers and goods.

 Applications are open until 5 September 2024.

4. New European Bauhaus – Call for projects

 The New European Bauhaus, an initiative by the European Commission to translate the European Green Deal into tangible change on the ground, launched a new call for project proposals to support research and innovation on projects relating to transforming neighbourhoods and making them beautiful, sustainable and inclusive. With a total of EUR 17.8 million, each of the three projects will receive financing of between EUR 1.8 and 8 million.
