CoR member Donatella Porzi (IT/Renew) organised a local dialogue about the "Sunflowers European Tour" on the 20th of February 2024, at the premises of Istituto Serafico Assisi.

The event was opened to local dialogue with students and Social Operators, presenting a great adventure, starting in mid-August 2024 - the "European Sunflower Tour: For Social Change", exchanging the best European practice in the social sphere. A new bicycle journey, following the one done in Italy last year, will now take the followers along a European and Mediterranean route that, symbolically starting from Assisi, from the Seraphic Hospital, will reach Greece by sea and continue through Albania, Montenegro, Croatia, Slovenia, Italy, France, Spain, and Portugal. The president of the initiative, Massimiliano Porcelli, will once again pedal for thousands of kilometres in search of the most beautiful Europe, one that finds its identity in the values of equality and solidarity. This is his way of representing the world of social work, made up of constantly evolving realities and full of fantastic people who often struggle - hence the metaphor of the bicycle - to be recognized by public opinion. In the end of the tour, a new documentary will be produced, which we hope will achieve the same success as the one created during the first "Girasoli Tour", called "Tutto quello che sarà".

During the event, young people from the Serafico gave a commemorative plaque to Massimiliano Porcelli, a symbol to say "run for us too".

The event concluded on the importance of: sharing, listening, taking care, education for commitment and belief in dreams, for creating a society that values the importance and practice equality and solidarity.
